Biology question?
1] it allows only certain subs to p throubh due to the protein lipid protein nature of the cell membrane. the glycophorines transport only certain subs with the help of ATP. [2] in osmosis the solvent molecules p from a region of high concentration of solvent molecules to the low conc of solvent molecule. there is a semipermeable membrane between the 2 soln. it is a slow process and only take place in case of solvent molecules. it can be stopped by applying a pressure. But diffusion is different. it is the phenomenon of mixing of particles or their motion from a region higher of high conc to a region of low conc. it doesn't require any semipermeable membrane beween. it takes place in solid, liquid and gases. it can't be stopped by any pressure. [3] these are important to transfer materials in and outside the cells and helps in proper function by distributing of materials.
