Can you address this history question please? Is it true?

History buffs. I know that England had their hands into a lot of other countries business years ago, India, Africa, etc. I am well aware of their involvement with Ireland. I just read about their plundering of Scotland and destruction of the clans. Is it true that England had trouble getting nobles to come to Scotland and live? (if it was such a horrid place to them, why not leave it alone?) Sooo they reinstated something, I forget the name, where a noble got to take to his bed any Scottish woman on her wedding night. To quote "if we cannot get them out, we'll breed them out". I found that very arrogant. The future husbands should have slept with their prospective wives beforehand and made sure they were pregnant before the nobles (what a wrong word to describe these s) got their hands on them.
